The Pumdikot Viewpoint is a well-known tourist destination in Pokhara, known for its large Shiva statue and view tower. Located in Pumdi Bhumdi VDC, just above the World Peace Pagoda, the viewpoint sits at an altitude of 1500 meters. Although the theme park construction is incomplete, it has already become a popular hill station in Nepal for tourists.

The viewpoint provides breathtaking views of Pokhara city, Phewa Lake, paragliding, Pame, Sarangkot, and other tourist attractions in the region. In addition, it offers spectacular views of the Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri mountains.

Hiking in Nepal is an excellent way to spend your holiday, and there are many attractions to see in the area. The massive Shiva statue and the Pumdikot view tower are located approximately 13 kilometers southwest of the primary market of Pokhara. If you plan to go hiking in the area, you can start with an early morning hike to the World Peace Pagoda using a variety of trails, including hiking trails, blacktopped roads, and cycling trails. Once you reach the Peace Pagoda, you can either visit the Buddhist shrine or head uphill to Pumdikot Danda, which is approximately 45 minutes away on foot. Although you can use a vehicle to get there, hiking is a better choice since the roads can be quite treacherous.

As you hike uphill from Pokhara, you will enjoy breathtaking views of Phewa Lake and nearby temples. The scenery becomes more expansive and clearer as you continue your journey. The morning sun’s rays peeking through the majestic mountains like Annapurna, Machhapuchhre, and Dhaulagiri will lift your spirits. When you arrive at the World Peace Pagoda, you will have an excellent view of Pokhara city and the nearby lakes.
After hiking for about 40-50 minutes, you will reach the naked hill just below the massive Mahadev statue and the Pumdikot Viewpoint. Walking past the green hill is a unique experience while hiking near Pokhara. After climbing the hill, you will see the impressive Pumdikot Shiva Statue resting on an enormous dome. Adjacent to the sculpture is a three-story viewing tower that provides a fantastic angle view of Pokhara city, Sarangkot, the World Peace Pagoda, and several lakes. The mountains seem to be staring right at you, and you can’t help but smile. With the gentle touch of the cool breeze on your face, the beautiful scenery, and the mountains, you will create unforgettable memories at the viewpoint. Without a doubt, the Pumdikot hike is one of the best experiences in Pokhara.
